Cabinet Approves Caste Census: What is it and why is it needed?

Caste Consensus:  The Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA) has approved the decision to include cast census in the upcoming national population survey. After much political debate and reactions, the decision has aims to involve a systematic recording of people’s caste identities to undersatnd socioeconomic status and distribution of different caste groups.

This significant policy shift will improve policy formulation, welfare targeting, affirmative action, and political representation, making policies more data-driven and inclusive.
