Canada Cabinet Reshuffle:  Anita Anand has been sworn in as the new foreign minister of Canada under the newly elected Prime Minister Mark Carney, marking a major reshuffle in the cabinet led by former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

A historic moment in the Canadian assembly, as Anand becomes the first Hindu woman of Indian origin to hold the post. She carried the pride of her identity at the oath ceremony where she was sworn as the Canadian foreign minister with the holy Bhagavad Gita in her hands.

Anand’s appointment is a symbolic and strategic move to mend the strained relationship with India under the rule of the former PM.

The Indian-origin minister will replace Mélanie Joly, who accused Indian officials of involvement in the killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
