Apple is Building Its Own Apple GPT to Compete With ChatGPT and Bard

Apple is purportedly developing a ChatGPT-like large language model (LLM) that some within the firm are referring to as "Apple GPT." According to Bloomberg, Apple has created the architecture for LLM, which is at the heart of generative AI technologies such as ChatGPT, Bard, and Bing. However, it is unclear whether Apple will make it available to the public, though some announcements may be made next year. Notably, the iPhone manufacturer prohibits employees from using publicly available LMM models such as ChatGPT to protect confidential data.

Apple Build LLM Framework Ajax

Apple has built its own internal infrastructure on which huge language models will be built to compete with OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google's Bard, and Meta's Llama. According to sources, the framework is dubbed "Ajax." It was created last year and is hosted on Google Cloud. Access to the chatbot is now restricted within Apple. Some Apple staffers believe the company might make a substantial AI announcement as soon as next year. The move demonstrates how Apple is moving forward in the generative AI sector, particularly after OpenAI released ChatGPT, which has gained widespread popularity among users.

Tim Cook talks about AI

In a recent interview, Tim Cook stated that Apple is "looking at AI closely." During an earnings call in May, Cook highlighted concerns regarding AI products, adding that there are "a number of issues that need to be sorted." Other companies have begun to collaborate in order to provide various LLMs to entrepreneurs and researchers. On Tuesday, Meta announced that their LLM LLaMA 2 will be available on Microsoft's Azure platform. Microsoft's Bing search product also uses OpenAI's GPT model.
