August 2025 Releases: Cinelovers are waiting for August with bated breath as the upcoming month holds an exciting line up of new films set to release in theaters. From Shazia Iqbal’s socially charged Dhadak 2, Ajay Devgn’s reprised Turband clad role in Son of Sardaar 2, action-packed War 2 and cross-cultural romance Param Sundari.

August 2025 Film Releases in Theaters 

Dhadak 2 

Release Date: 1 August 

Helmed by Shazia Iqbal, Dhadak 2 brings a fresh pair on screen with Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi. The film is a love story about an upper class girl and a lower caste boy. Iqbal brings the social evils holding Indian society down to the screen to portray its human cost. The film is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions along with Zee Studios and Cloud 9 Pictures. 

Son of Sardaar 2 

Release Date: 1 August 

Ajay Devgn reprises his turban clad role as Jassi with a cast ensemble of Mrunal Thakur, Sanjay Dutt, Ravi Kishan,Sanjay Mishra and Mukul Dev. The film is directed by Vijay Kumar Arora as a standalone sequel of 2012 film, Son of Sardaar, an action comedy.

Ajey: The Untold Story of A Yogi

Release Date: 1 August

Based on the book The Monk Who Became Chief Minister written by Shantanu Gupta, the film is about Uttar Pradesh’s chief Minister Yogi Adityanath starring Anant Joshi in the titular role.

War 2

Release Date: 14 August

The most-anticipated action-thiller of the month starring Hrithik Roshan and Junior NTR in a patriotic clash, War 2 is an Ayan Mukerji directorial produced by Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films. The film is the sixth instalment in the YRF Spy Universe and sequel to 2019 War.  

Param Sundari 

Release Date: 29 August 2025

A new pair is set to romance on screen bringing their electric chemistry in a cross-cultural romantic comedy film. Siddharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor starrer Param Sundari directed by Tushar Jalota and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Film.
