Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada, has announced his divorce from Sophie Trudeau. Both declared this on social media on Wednesday, and Trudo has been trending since then. Sophie and Justin knew each other from school because Sophie was in Justin's brother Michael's class and so used to visit Trudeau's house. They were well acquainted.

Justin Trudeau's office has asked that his privacy be respected. Trudeau is only the second prime minister to disclose his divorce while still in office. Previously, his father, Pierre Trudeau, split from his wife Margaret in 1979 and divorced her in 1984.
In the year 2005, they married. Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, 48, has also worked as a television reporter in Quebec. She has also campaigned for three elections alongside Justin Trudeau, 51. She has frequently been spotted pushing for women's rights and mental health concerns.
