India-China Ties: The already fragile relationship between China and India faces new tensions as Chinese Foreign Minister spokesperson Mao Ning in a media briefing asked India to “act cautiously” in matters interfering with Tibet. The remark came in response to Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju’s remarks that the incarnation of the Dalai Lama should follow his wishes, contradicting China's claim to have the right to approve the successor.
Mao’s statement said that India should exercise caution in its words and actions, stop interfering in China’s internal affairs with Xizang (Tibet) related issues, and avoid impact on the improvement and development of the China-India relationship.
