At Delhi’s IGI Airport, a Spice Jet aircraft suddenly caught fire. The incident happened on Tuesday at about 4 p.m., according to a spokesperson. An unexpected fire alarm alerting to a fire in engine number 1 was received by a Q 400 aircraft while it was undergoing maintenance and repair. The maintenance staff used fire extinguishers to put out the fire right away. The local fire department squad was also contacted immediately out of caution. There have been no injuries in this incident.
How Spice Jet Caught Fire?
DCP Airport confirmed the incident, stating that the fire started during maintenance in the aircraft’s air conditioning system. In this situation, no police were called to the airport, and no complaints were filed. A video of the incident is also going viral on social media. The footage showed a part of the plane on fire, releasing thick smoke into the air.
