Delhi Weather: Monsoon has entered the national capital, but full-fledged rain is yet to arrive. Despite the lack of heavy rain, a threat looms over the residents of Delhi, that of the floods in the Yamuna River. As of now, the river’s level stands at 203.2 meters, while the warning mark is 204.5 meters and the danger mark is 205.33 meters.
The cause for the threat of flood is the heavy rainfall in hilly regions like Himachal Pradesh and neighboring areas, resulting in a continuous rise of water level in Yamuna along with the release of approximately 2000 cusecs of water per hour from Haryana’s Hathnikund Barrage.
If heavy rains batter the capital city, the people living in the low-lying areas have to face the brunt of the situation.
