Emergency Release date: Watch Kangana Ranaut unveil the gripping teaser with its release announcement

Emergency Release date: Kangana Ranaut, the Queen of Bollywood is once again ready to carry a whole film on her shoulder. This time it’s not any actioner or biography, but a real lie inspired by events which took place in 1975. Kangana Ranaut will be seen stepping inside the shoes of India’s former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who also happens to be India’s first female PM. The story revolves around the time when Indira Gandhi led government declared a 21 month long Emergency period in the country also labeled as the ‘Black period’, This film also marks Kangana’s solo directorial debut. 

Emergency Release date 

Kangana Ranaut alongside dropping the first glimpse and the teaser of her solo directorial debut ‘Emergency’ also announced the release date of the film. The film will be released on November 24th 2023. The film, which wrapped its shooting schedule in January will,  have its theatrical premiere in November. Upon directing and starring in Emergency Kangana said ‘ "Emergency is one of the most significant and darkest chapters in our history that young India needs to know’.

The teaser and the caption which states ‘A protector or a Dictator? Witness the darkest phase of our history when the leader of our nation declared a war on it’s people. #Emergency releasing worldwide on 24th November’ very much reveals about the story itself. Apart from Kangana portraying the former Prime Minister, we also get a glimpse of Anupam Kher behind the bars as the leader of the opposition party. Reportedly he will be taking the role of late political leader Jayaprakash Narayan, also known as JP Narayan. Take a look at the video.

About Emergency

Previously, Kangana revealed that she had utilized her entire property as collateral to finance the production of the movie. She also penned a detailed message following the completion of filming in January. Prior to this, Kangana portrayed the role of the late J Jayalalithaa, the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, in the biographical film "Thalaivii" released in 2021. Alongside Kangana, notable actors such as Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhry, Vishak Nair, and Shreyas Talpade also feature prominently in the film ‘Emergency’.
