G20 Summit India: On Saturday (9th September), the first day of the G20 conference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of the Global Biofuel Alliance, an initiative to provide clean energy and minimize the use of fossil fuels. Along with PM Modi, the Global Biofuel Alliance was launched by US President Joe Biden, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio, Argentina’s Alberto Fernández, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, among others on the first day G20 Summit in New Delhi.
The Global Biofuel Alliance (GBA) is an initiative launched by India at the G20 Summit 2023. Through the active participation of a diverse variety of world leaders, the Alliance strives to accelerate the global adoption of biofuels by encouraging technological developments, expanding the use of sustainable biofuels, and developing strong standards and certification systems. According to the External Affairs Ministry, the alliance would also act as a center for experts and a common knowledge repository. GBA aims to serve as a catalyst for international collaboration in developing and maximizing the use of biofuels.
