Indian Education: The central government has issued some trailblazing guidelines following the prevalent coaching culture in the nation. Per the guidelines, coaching institutes are now restricted from enrolling students below the age of 16 years.
The step has been taken as an attempt to curb the student suicide rate and emphasize improved facilities in the education institution. The initiative has been pioneered in the direction of reducing the burden of studies on the student.
According to the statistics recorded by the National Crime Record Bureau, 5,607 suicides were reported among girls under 18, and 5,075 suicides among boys.
Following the implementation of the guideline, institutes will have to maintain a transparent admission system with no big claims and parental access to all crucial information. Ministry official stated, “to ensure compliance, coaching institutes are required to adhere to a reasonable fee structure and provide refunds for prematurely discontinued syllabi”
Adhering to the rule, the new and old institutes are to register themselves legally for the state to have transparent monitoring and ensure students’ mental health is not the one to struggle under the grip of private coaching.
