HMPV Virus Update: China Claims Decrease in Human Metapneumovirus Cases, Know What Health Ministry Said

HMPV Virus Cases: Human metapneumovirus (HMPV) infection disseminated from China has reached numerous nations around the world, including India. Meanwhile, China has issued a strong statement on the development of the disease. According to a Chinese health official, the rate of infection with flu-like human metapneumovirus (HMPV) is falling in northern China. 

Decline in Cases

During a press briefing hosted by China’s National Health Commission, Wang Liping, a researcher at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, stated that the recent increase in the number of cases of the virus, which was first detected in the Netherlands in 2001, is due to improved detection methods. He further said that the number of positive cases of human metapneumovirus is fluctuating at the moment, with a decrease in the northern regions.
