Business News: According to the latest Household Consumption Expenditure Survey 2022-23, the gap between rural consumption and urban consumption has narrowed down, indicating that people are spending the same in urban and rural areas. The consumption expenditure survey was based on how much people spend on food and drink.
In the survey, the rural and urban areas’ expenditure witnessed a major shift, according to which in comparison to 2011-12, there was a 146% growth in rural monthly per capita consumption expenditure. In rural areas, where people used to spend Rs. 1430 per month on food and drink in 2011-12, now people are spending around Rs. 3733 per month.
