National News: India is aiming to develop its very own 5.5 generation AMCA fighter plane prototype in the next four years. The roadmap for the same was reviewed in a meeting of India Air Force (IAF) and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
An indigenous venture, 5.5 Gen Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft would be a stealth aircraft with a weight estimated to be 27 tonnes. Its features would include a concealed missile carriage, and increased conventional weapon load. The development of it would however take around 7 years with the prototype alone taking four years that is if all other production activities go well with time.
