India-Pakistan Conflict: Despite the ceasefire announcement on Saturday, tensions are still lingering between India and Pakistan. Amidst this, ISRO Chairman V Narayanan has given a major update regarding the India-Pakistan conflict. He said at the Central Agricultural University’s (CAU) fifth convocation in Agartala that ten satellites are constantly operating for strategic reasons to protect India’s population.
A total of 127 Indian satellites have been launched by ISRO. These also include educational institutions’ and private operators’ satellites. Of these, the Central Government owns 22 in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and 29 in Geo-Synchronous Earth Orbit. About a dozen spy or surveillance satellites are in India. These include the EMISAT and Microsat series, which are made for particular surveillance needs, as well as the Cartosat and RISAT series.
