Kangana Ranaut Exposes The “Fair Skin Obsession of Bollywood

Entertainment: Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is back in headlines for her bold remarks on the “fair skin obsession" of Bollywood, calling out the “whitewashed” new heroines of the industry. 

In an Instagram story post, Ranaut appreciated the Maha Kumbh famed Monalisa for her natural dusky beauty which sets her apart from others as uniquely beautiful. In the same story, she remarked that there was a time when Bollywood used to appreciate the likes of Bipasha Basu, Deepika Padukone, and Kajol and today everyone looks so pale and white on screen. 

Ranaut’s remark underscored an often unsaid and overlooked obsession of Bollywood and society at large with fair skin, giving them preferences on superficial aspects of their personality like skin color.
