Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2: One of the most iconic shows in Indian television history, “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi,” is all set to make the much-awaited comeback this month, with actress-turned-poltician Smriti Irani reprising her role as Tulsi Virani, marking her comeback on television. Ekta Kapoor shared the promo of the second season on her Instagram, with the caption, “Kya aap abhi bhi vishwaas nahi kar paa rahe? 25 saal ke baad, Tulsi Virani laut rahi hai, ek nayi kahaani ke saath! #KyunkiSaasBhiKabhiBahuThi ek baar phir taayaar hai har ghar ka hissa bann ne. Kya aap bhi taiyaar ho? Dekhiye #KyunkiSaasBhiKabhiBahuThi, 29th July se, raat 10:30 baje, sirf StarPlus par aur kabhi bhi JioHotstar par.”

The show will air at the same time as the first season, from 29th July. Apart from Smriti Irani, speculations are surrounding the cast of the second season, and it is expected that the former cast will reprise their respective roles in the new season, with some modifications. 

As soon as the announcement was made, fans were surprised and excited to feel the nostalgia once again, when the whole family used to sit together and watch the show with full enthusiasm. Smriti Irani aka Tulsi Virani

Our beloved Tulsi, played by the then actress and model Smriti Irani, became a household name after the success of this show. Smriti Irani made her debut in 2000 with TV serials Aatish and Hum Hain Kal Aaj Aur Kal. Her role as Tulsi made her immensely popular. She was last seen in the Bengali film Amrita in 2012. Irani is a successful politician who served as the Union Minister of HRD, Information and Broadcasting, and Textiles.

Amar Upadhyay aka Mihir Virani

Amar started his acting career in the 1990s with serials like Dekh Bhai Dekh, Arzoo, Suhana Safar, Tulsi, and Mehndi Tere Naam Ki. He gained fame with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi but left the show to pursue a career in films. Amar stood 5th in the fifth season of Bigg Boss in 2011. He was last seen in supporting roles in movies – Bob Biswas and Kaagaz and was last seen in Molkki, where he played the lead Virendra Pratap Singh.

Ronit Roy aka Mihir Virani (After Amar Upadhyay’s Exit)

Popularly known for his role as Mr. Bajaj in Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Ronit Roy also played the role of Mihir after Amar Upadhyay’s exit from the show. Ronit Roy has also done several films and serials during his career, including Bloody Daddy, Farreh, Gumraah, Shamshera, and Liger. 

Prachi Shah aka Pooja Virani

Prachi played the role of Pooja Virani in the show and gained immense popularity. The actor and Kathak dancer is also known for her roles in Ek Shringaar – Swabhiman, and has also worked in films like Laxmii, Judwaa 2, ABCD 2, and Chhatriwali.

Shakti Anand aka Hemant Virani

Shakti Anand played the role of Hemant Virani, and is also said to be reprising his role in the second season. Apart from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Anand appeared in TV shows like Saara Akaash, Sambhav Asambhav, and Ek Ladki Anjaani Si. He also hosted the first season of Crime Patrol in 2004.

Jaya Bhattacharya aka Payal Pratap Mehra

Jaya played the negative character of Payal Mehra in the show, who was supposed to get married to Mihir. Apart from his, Bhattacharya has had a long career in television and films. She has worked in shows like Thapki Pyar Ki, Kasamh Se, Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka, and Aise Karo Na Vida. 

Karishma Tanna aka Indira Gandhi

Karishma Tanna made her debut with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, giving her a solid career growth. Later, she gained popularity with her roles in Naagin 3 and Qayamat Ki Raat. Karishma was a contestant and first runner-up in the reality show Bigg Boss Halla Bol in 2014, and she also appeared in other reality shows like Zara Nachke Dikha, Nach Baliye 7, and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 9. She has worked in shows like Baalveer, Scoop, and Grand Masti.

Hussain Kuwajerwala aka Chirag Virani

Hussain first starred in the TV serial Hum Paanch as Gattu. Later, he gained popularity with his Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kumkum, and Krishna Arjun. He has also gained immense recognition for his hosting on reality shows like Indian Idol. 

Hiten Tejwani aka Karan Virani

The actor has been seen in several serials and films, most popular being Ghar Ek Mandir, Kahiin To Hoga, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Balika Vadhu, etc.

Shilpa Saklani aka Ganga Virani

Shilpa played the lead role in serial like Ek Tukdaa Chaand Ka, Lavanya and Kkusum. She also participated in the 7th season of Bigg Boss.

Jiten Lalwani aka Karan Virani

The actor has been a recurring face on TV serials like Sasural Genda Phool, Pehredaar Piya Ki, and Yeh Un Dino Ki Baat Hai. 

Aman Verma aka Anupam Kapadia

The actor and anchor has acted in several TV serials and films including Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi,  Khullja Sim Sim, Baghban, and Indian Idol.

Apara Mehta aka Savita Virani

She played the role of Mihir Virani’s mother in the show. Mehta has done many TV shows like Parrivar, Hamari Saas Leela and Sargam Ki Sadhe Satii.

Mandira Bedi aka Dr. Mandira Kapadia

The actor was well-known for her roles in Shanti and Saaho before starring in the show. Later, she also hosted the ICC Cricket World Cups in the years 2003 and 2007, and reality shows like Indian Idol Junior.

Mouni Roy aka Krishna Tulsi Virani

Mouni made her television debut with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Her most popular role was that of Shivanya in Naagin. Since then, Mouni has been in the spotlight and was seen in movies like Brahmastra and Gold.

Narayani Shastri aka Kesar

Shastri made her debut in DD National’s Kahani Saat Pheron Ki. She then played the role of Tulsi’s sister Kesar. Her other popular shows include Kkusum, Nach Baliye 2, Karn Sangini and Nazar.

Gauri Pradhan Tejwani aka Nandini 

Model-turned-actress Gauri Pradhan Tejwani played the popular character of Nandini Karan Virani, Aseem, Ansh and Karan’s former wife. Gauri became a household name and won the Indian Telly Awards for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
