Madhya Pradesh to Launch India's First Esports Academy under the sports department

Madhya Pradesh, the state which has recently emerged as the sports hub of the country is set to take an advanced initiative. As per the reports the Madhya Pradesh sports department is expected to launch its first online gaming industry to provide the young esports player an opportunity and platform to advance to a professional level. In recent years the Esports industry has boomed in India with the government taking different steps to safeguard the privacy and security of the industry. Online games like BGMI, Dota 2, COD, Valorant, CS:GO are witnessing a drastic surge of Indian players around the globe, with various esports companies venturing into the country as well.

MP to launch first Esports Academy

Reportedly a talent search programme will be conducted in the state, targeting the esports enthusiasts between 12-17 years of age. The sports department will be holding a 10 days tournament and allow youngsters to participate in the game. The talent search programme will be held during the MP state junior esports championship.

Yashodhara Raje Scindia, the sports minister in a statement to TOI said "MP has become a sports hub. The objective behind launching the Esports Academy is to promote all such sports that have a presence in the Asian Games and Olympics”. She further stated mixing traditional and advanced sports and said "MP's break dance and Esports Academy are the first such academies in the country that will give the youth an opportunity to hone their skills in these new sports in addition to traditional sports.

Esports in India

The Esports sector was recently included as the medal sports in the Asian Games 2022 and as the pilot event for Commonwealth Games 2022. As of now the Esports gaming in India is on a boom. According to a recent analysis from 2021 E&Y evaluation the esports business is predicted to develop four times faster and reach INR 1,100 crore by 2025. Big esports companies around the world are venturing into India, taking it as a potential market for the business in the upcoming days. All of these forecasts have made sure that everyone is aware of the importance and growth of esports.
