The Traitors’ Winners:  The first installment of the Indian version of ‘The Traitors’ came to an intense finale on 3rd July, with Uorfi Javed and Nikita Luther bagging the title of the winners. Hosted by Karan Johar, The Traitors grew its fan base with each episode, leaving the audience in anticipation of who might be the next traitor. 

Winners of The Traitors were ‘innocents’ in the show who stayed through deception and suspicion to emerge victorious. 

While Uorfi Javed is a popular figure in the entertainment world known for her bold fashion, and participation in several reality shows like Bigg Boss OTT and Follow Kar Lo Yaar. 

However, the latter, Nikita Luthe, is not just a new figure in reality TV; The Traitors is also her debut entertainment venture.

Who is Nikita Luther? 

A native of Delhi, Nikita Luther is a popular figure in the world of poker. She is the first Indian female poker player to gain national and international recognition and fame in the sport.

Hailing from a military family, Nikita shifted many bases before finding permanence in Delhi, where she went to Sanskriti School and earned a graduate’s degree from the esteemed University of Delhi.  

Currently, she is mentoring the insights at the ‘Super Bowl’ of poker championship in India and is the COO of Poker Sports League. She is also the brand ambassador of Natural8 India, Asia's online poker room.

Journey To Poker 

Most of us are conditioned to see a figure like James Bond on a poker table with the common myth that it is a boy’s sport. Luther, however, did not let that conditioning stop her from pursuing her interest in the sport professionally.

Nikita found her interest in poker with the help of an online poker playing platform called Zynga, and in 2015, she finally laid her hands on a real poker game at her friend’s birthday party. Since then, there has been no going back. 

For Luther, poker is not a game of mere luck, but a concoction of strategic thinking, reading human behavior, and knowing when to trust one’s instinct. For her, poker is maths, and he has a knack for solving the toughest problems. 

Career & Recognition in Poker 

Hailed as the first and only woman to win gold at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2018, Luther has climbed up the ladder of success with many achievements to her credit. 

She won her first title in 2015 at the Indian Poker Championship in Goa. 

In 2017, she triumphed at the  Macau Poker Cup alongside Raghav Bansal. In the same year, she was positioned 5th in the Aria Poker Classic Main Event. 

In 2018, she won the first gold bracelet of her career at WSOP (also called the Olympic Gold Medal in poker) in Las Vegas with her teammate, German Italian poker player Giuseppe Pantaleo. 

Reports suggest that Nikita Luther’s net worth is around Rs. 4-5 crores. 

The Traitors premiered on Amazon Prime Video on June 12 with 20 celebrity contestants like Raj Kundara, Apoorva Makhija, and Uorfi Javed.
