What is Neurosis: Mental illnesses were seen as neurosis and psychosis in the scientific field a while ago. Neurosis is a group of conditions where a person feels that something abnormal is happening, but perhaps feels helpless to do anything. In short, the person feels and understands that something is wrong but he/she is helpless. Since these illnesses are increasing a lot and are common, it has been termed as common mental disorders or CMD in modern language. Anxiety, depression, phobia, emotional or adjustment problems can all be counted in neurosis or CMD.
One of the main reasons of neurosis is genetic, however, psychological factors, family issues, social economic issues also play a major role in elevating this illness. This is why the rate of neurosis and its prevalence is different in each situation. The percentage of neurosis is higher in western countries. In Tier 1 cities, it is more comoared to the villages and towns because of urbanization and modernization. In men and women, the rates of neurosis are different. Therefore, it is very important to pay attention to your family, mental and social issues. Poeple suffering from neurosis should be able to openly talk and consult doctor or your psychologist. While medicine is very useful in reducing tension, anxiety, and other problems, counseling and psychotherapy will play a big role in long-term and effective treatment for neurotic conditions.
