Murshidabad Violence: Following the protest against the Waqf Amendment Act in Bengal’s Muslim-dominated Murshidabad district, tensions have risen, and Hindus are afraid of the situation. Around 500 Hindus affected by the violence in the district have fled. They crossed the Bhagirathi River and found refuge in the Malda district. Suvendu Adhikari, the state’s opposition leader, has alleged that people are fleeing because they are afraid of fundamentalists. Many people have also fled to Jharkhand.
Miscreants have again fired on the BSF team in Shamsherganj, which has been plagued by violence. The violence has left two children injured. The miscreants are also accused of molesting several ladies. The arrest of 12 more people in the case brings the total number of arrests to approximately 150.
