Caste Census India: Castes will be counted alongside Muslims and Hindus in the caste-based census that will accompany the census. Until now, Muslims have been classified as a religious group in the census. Following the caste-based census, concrete data regarding the many castes in Muslim society, as well as their social, economic, and educational status, will emerge. Even in Muslim society, Pasmanda Muslims account for 85 percent of the population, which is backward. However, they are underrepresented in society and politics. Even the All India Muslim Personal Board, which claims to represent all Muslims in the country, does not have a single Pasmanda Muslim member.
For the first time, it was decided in the cabinet meeting on Thursday to conduct a caste-wise census in addition to the general census. The precise number of castes in Muslim society will be exposed for the first time. Till now, the call for a caste-based census has been made in consideration of the OBC vote.
