Onion Price Today: Onion prices continue to increase and are expected to soon reach Rs 100. In some parts of Delhi, the price of 1kg of onion has surpassed Rs 90, indicating that it will soon surpass Rs 100 per kg. Meanwhile, it has been stated that it has already surpassed Rs 100/kg in several Indian marketplaces. Amid the possibility of further rise in onion prices, the government is working towards a planned strategy to reduce the prices, giving a sense of relief to common people who are avoiding the use of this basic food ingredient in their kitchen and plates.
Along with onions, prices for other vegetables are rising due to increased demand in this festive season. According to reports, the government would continue to sell onions from its buffer supply in around 16 places to deal with current inflation. On October 28, the government established the Minimum Export Price (MEP) for onions at $800 in order to lower the price. According to the government, the imposed tariff has resulted in a 5 to 9 percent decrease from the maximum price. In Maharashtra, the wholesale price of onions has dropped by 4.5 percent.
