Read how Akash Deep rose from local cricket to the national and international stage with his grit and unyielding spirit in his biography.       

Akash Deep Family 

Born as Akashdeep Singh on 15 December 1996, he is the son of a government school teacher, the late Ramji Singh and Ladduma Devi. Hailing from a humble abode of Dehri, Bihar the 27-year-old cricketer has been passionate about sports since childhood, gripping to his passion in a time and place where it was seen as a mere distraction for kids. His father wanted him to settle for a government job, a dream every middle-class parent fosters for their kid so that they have job security and stability in life. 

The trajectory of Akash Deep’s life altered with the twin tragedies of losing his father and elder brother within a span of 6 months, leaving him to shoulder the responsibility of breadwinning for his mother and two sisters. 

Akash Deep Early Career

The necessity of earning led him to tennis-ball cricket in Durgapur, Bengal with the support of a friend. He initially joined a cricket club called the United Club in the CAB first division league in 2010 and worked with Ranadep Bose, a fast Bengal bowler. A year later he was a part of Bengal U-23 but an unfortunate back injury pulled him off his tracks again.

Akash Deep Domestic Career 

Getting back into his form after his recovery, on 9 March 2019 he made his debut to the T20 team for the state of Bengal in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Following it, on 24, September 2019 he made his A-List debut in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20, and on 25 December 2019, he had his maiden performance in First-Class cricket for Bengal.

On 31 August 2021, he landed a spot in the 2021 IPL with Royal Challengers Banglore. The following year he was bought for RCB in the auction for 2022. 

International Career

In the 2022 Asian Games, he got the opportunity to replace Shivam Mavi in India’s squad. He became part of India’s ODI squad for the series against South Africa in South Africa in November 2023 again as a replacement for injured Deepak Chahar.   

In February 2024, he debuted in the fourth match of the test series of India vs England.
