Panchayat season 4 defeated Squid Game 3 to become the second-best opening series of the year, positioning the strength of the real and simple content on OTT. 

Now, with the news of season five, fans are already waiting for the next chapter in the story. S,o as you wait, we bring you a dive into the real lives of people behind your favourite characters from Panchayat. 

From Prahlad Cha essayed by Faizal Malik to Kranti Devi, played by Sunita Rajwar, let’s move the spotlight to where it's due, to the standout cast of the story, beyond the popular names.

Star Cast of Panchayat 

Panchayat boasts of a stellar cast of strong actors, leaving a mark on the audience for their simplicity. With a bag full of popular and new names, Panchayat has proven how the audience values content and skills over the name and association of an actor.

Spearheading the show is Jitendra Kumar as Gram Sachiv, Abhishek Tripathi, Neena Gupta is the Pradhan of Phulera, Manju Devi, husband of Manju Devi is Brij Bhushan Dubey, played by Raghubir Yadav. 

Adding vibrancy and color to the full picture of Phulera village are Rinky (Sanvikaa), Prahlad Cha (Faisal Malik), Vikas (Chandan Roy), Binod (Ashok Pathak), Bhushan (Durgesh Kumar), Vidhayak Chandrakishore (Pankaj Jha), and Kranti Devi (Sunita Rajwar).

Rinky aka Sanvikaa 

Sanvikaa’s original name is Pooja Singh. An engineering graduate from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, Rinky is having her big break in the entertainment industry. She joined the industry as an outfit assistant director and landed a role in Panchayat while auditioning for her job.

Prahlad Cha aka Faisal Malik 

Some remember Faisal Malik from Gangs of Wasseypur 2, but he rose to prominence with his role as a doting father and a man with a big heart in Panchayat. Born in Prayagraj, Malik left the city to fulfill his dream of being an actor. He has worked as an assistant director, promo producer, reality show producer, and line producer.

Vikas aka Chandan Roy 

Coming from the Manhar village in Bihar, Vikas moved to Patna for a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication while partaking in theater plays in college. He then earned a diploma in Radio and Television from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in Delhi, followed by a job as a journalist with Dainik Jagran. He quit his job in 2017 to move to Mumbai. 

Panchayat became his big breakthrough, paving the way for more work opportunities for him, like Sanak, Gulmohar, and more.

Binod aka Ashok Pathak

Ashok Pathak can be titled the most lovable and popular character from Panchayat if the meme-worthiness of the actor has to be the metric. But Panchayat is not his first big role. Pathak has been in the acting field for 11 years with shows and films like Bittoo Boss, Shanghai, The Field, Saat Uchakkey, A Death in the Gunj, Pakauu Class of 83, Sacred Games, Wild Wild Punjab, Aarya, Kathmandu Connection 2, and Guns of Benaras.

Bhushan aka Durgesh Kumar 

The ‘Banrakas’ of Prime Video’s show is played by Durgesh Kumar. Hailing from Dharbanga, Bihar, Durgesh Kumar is an alumnus of the National School of Drama with a postgraduate degree in acting.

His biggest breakthrough is not Panchayat but the Bollywood film ‘Highway’ where he played the role of Aadoo. 

A setback in an engineering exam pushed him to extend his labours into learning acting. He has a career of over 12 years in the industry, but fame knocked on his door with Panchayat.

Vidhayak Chandrakishore aka Pankaj Jha

 Pankaj Jha is a seasoned actor in the series, known for his role as the temperamental Vidhakay Ji in Panchayat. He is not just an actor but also a painter, writer, and director. He studied acting at the National School of Drama.

Kranti Devi aka Sunita Rajwar

One of the biggest successes and recognitions from the show is due to Sunita Rajwar, who plays the role of Kranti Devi. But you may also remember her as the househelp Bhoori, from Hina Khan’s Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. 

Hailing from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, Rajwar pursued acting from the National School of Drama, and has been a part of many popular projects in films, television, and stage. Some of her popular works include Ek Chaalis Ki Last Local, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, Bala, Stree, Kedarnath, and Sony Liv’s Gullak.
