For the unversed, Kashyap is an outstanding Indian shuttler and a former World No. 6. Born and brought up in Hyderabad, Parupalli has trained under both former All-England champions Prakash Padukone and Pullela Gopichand.

Achievements in Badminton

A recipient of the Arjuna Award, Kashyap rose to fame in 2012 to be the first male player from India to reach the quarter-finals of men's singles at the 2012 London Olympics.

He won a gold medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games to become the first Indian male shuttler in 32 years to do so.

He is also the first Indian man to reach the quarterfinals at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He became the world No. 6 in badminton in 2013.

Personal life and Training

Kashyap was born on 8 September 1986 to Uday Shankar and Subhadra. He started his training at the age of 11 but faced a major setback in 2014 when he was diagnosed with asthma. However, his determination with the right medication and appropriate training honed him to be one of the finest Indian badminton players.

Kashyap and Nehwal trained at the Pullela Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad during their early years. The camaraderie soon turned into love, and the two tied the knot on 14 December 2018 in a private wedding.
