Weather Update Today: The weather has become pleasant in many parts of the country as soon as the monsoon season began. The South, North, and hilly areas are continuously experiencing the wrath of heavy rainfall in the form of floods, traffic congestion, waterlogging, and infrastructure destruction. The national capital is experiencing changing weather patterns, with heavy rains increasing the humidity and making it difficult to survive the July month. The citizens of Delhi-NCR woke up to heavy rainfall in many parts of the city, giving relief from the humid weather. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for rainfall in many states, including Odisha, Mumbai, and Himachal Pradesh.

Rain Alert in Delhi-NCR

The national capital witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall in many areas on Monday morning, making the weather pleasant. However, waterlogging and traffic congestion made it difficult for people to commute to their workplaces. IMD has issued a yellow alert in the national capital for Monday and Tuesday. Delhi-NCR will remain generally cloudy, with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms. The weather is expected to remain the same for the entire week. The temperature is forecast to remain constant throughout the week, with the maximum temperature ranging from 32 to 34 degrees Celsius.

UP-Bihar Weather Today

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in 16 districts of UP, including Saharanpur, Shamli, Bareilly, Pilibhit, and the Terai hills of western Uttar Pradesh. The Meteorological Department predicts that monsoon rains will persist in the western areas of the state for the next three to four days. Heavy rainfall is expected in Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Bijnor, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Jhansi, and the neighbouring areas.

In Bihar, a warning of light to moderate rainfall has been issued in 26 districts, covering all of South Bihar and the Northeast. Light or moderate rainfall is expected in Madhepura, Saharsa, Purnia, Katihar, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Khagaria, Munger, Bhagalpur, Jamui, Banka, Lakhisarai, Begusarai, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Nalanda, Gaya, Patna, Jehanabad, Aurangabad, Arwal, Rohtas, Kaimur, Buxar, and Bhojpur, according to the Meteorological Department.

Heavy Rain Alert in Himachal, Mumbai

IMD predicts moderate to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas in Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, and Vidarbha today. Similar conditions are forecast in East Rajasthan and Gujarat, raising the possibility of flooding in low-lying areas. Light to moderate rainfall, followed by thunderstorms, lightning, and isolated heavy rainfall, is expected to persist in Northeast India for the next 7 days, with extremely heavy rainfall in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam, and Meghalaya until July 12.

In Himachal Pradesh, the IMD has issued a red alert for Kangra, Mandi, and Sirmaur, while an orange alert is in place for Chamba, Kullu, Shimla, Solan, Hamirpur, and Una till July 8. The torrential rain in Himachal Pradesh has caused havoc, with the state reporting 23 flash floods, 19 cloud burst incidents, and 16 landslides by Sunday. According to a report provided by the Himachal Pradesh administration, at least 78 persons have died in the state since the monsoon season began on June 20.
