Uproar over an image of Aurangzeb in Maharashtra, protests by Hindu groups, police Lathicharged

These images of rage and commotion come from Kolhapur, in the state of Maharashtra. These on-the-road visitors are irate at the Aurangzeb portrait. In fact, the uproar rose so much when Aurangzeb's image was posted on the status of certain youngsters in Kolhapur that Hindu organisations began protesting at Chhatrapati Shivaji Chowk and calling for harsh punishment against the youths. When things started to get out of hand, the police used lathicharge to calm things down and scatter the throng.

Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, stated that no one in Maharashtra has ever apologised for praising Aurangzeb in relation to the Kolhapur event. The police are also acting. In order to prevent any adverse incidents, it is also our common responsibility to guarantee that people preserve peace. The Deputy Chief Minister has instructed the Home Department to take strict action against the culprits.
