Uttarakhand News: 6 Killed in Haridwar Due to Stampede in Mansa Devi Temple

Uttarakhand News: There was a sudden stampede at the Mansa Devi shrine, killing 6 and injuring 15 people. According to the source, the accident occurred near the temple’s stairs. Due to the month of Sawan, there has been an increase in Shiva devotees coming to Haridwar, with large crowds gathering to offer water in temples. On Sunday morning, a large crowd had gathered at the Mansa Devi Temple for the same purpose.

Cause of the Stampede

District Magistrate Mayur Dixit reported that several people were attempting to climb using an electric wire for support when a rumour spread that the wire had become live with electricity. This caused panic and created a stampede. The roads were wet and slippery due to continuous monsoon rains, and the temple pathway, which was both steep and narrow, made things even more difficult. These combined conditions caused confusion and anger among devotees, leading to a stampede.
