Raveena Tandon and MM Keeravani receive Padma Shri from President Draupadi Murmu

On Wednesday, President Draupadi Murmu bestowed the fourth highest civilian honor, the Padma Shri, on actor Raveena Tandon and Oscar-winning music composer MM Keeravani at a gilded ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Earlier this month, the Central Government honored a total of 106 Padma Awards in various categories. Art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, and civil service were among the categories.

MM Keeravaani, who won the Academy Award 2023 for RRR’s Naatu Naatu song, and actress Raveena Tandon were both awarded Padma Shri. President Droupadi Murmu bestowed the fourth-highest civilian award on them.

On being honored with the prestigious award, Raveena said, “Honoured and grateful. Thank you so much, Government of India, for acknowledging my contributions, my life, my passion and purpose - cinema and the arts, that allowed me to contribute, not only to the film industry, but beyond. I thank all those who guided me through this journey of Art and Craft of Cinema -- all those who held my hand through it, and all those who watched me from their place above. I owe this to my father.”

Tandon rose to prominence in Bollywood with films such as ‘Mohra’, ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’, ‘Satta’, ‘Shool’, and many more. Her performance in the national blockbuster ‘KGF 2’ earned her a lot of praise. Raveena will next be seen in the upcoming romantic comedy film 'Ghudchadi,' alongside Sanjay Dutt, Parth Samthan, and Khushali Kumar.

During the presentation event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were present. SS Rajamouli, who can be seen seated in the audience, also applauded. Raveena Tandon received her prize with her hands folded and bowed before the President.
