After the success of Asia's first water metro in Kerala, now water taxi is also being started in Varanasi. It was inaugurated on 15 June. Although it is being run only under the pilot project, but soon water taxis will be operated at other ghats of Banaras as well. This is India's first water taxi project to run on hydrogen fuel. Water taxi project is being started in river Ganga in Varanasi and it is planned that soon this project will be started in river Yamuna in Agra and Mathura also.
According to the information received from the administrative sources of Varanasi, at present water taxi will be operated from Ramnagar Fort to Namo Ghat in Varanasi. There is a distance of about 11 km between the two ghats. There will be 3 stops of water taxi on the way. This water taxi will be stopped at Assi Ghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat and Rajghat between Ramnagar Fort and Namo Ghat.
According to the information, passengers will have to pay a fare of Rs 165 for this high speed water taxi between Ramnagar and Namo Ghat. For water taxi, a person will have to pay a fare of Rs 15 for every km. T
