Weather Update: After a long day of cloudy sky and heavy rainfall, Delhi witnessed a sunny morning on Friday. The effects of incessant downpour on Thursday can still be felt on roads with waterlogged pathways creating a hurdle for transports in the morning. Devastated with heavy rain, Gujarat is predicted to have light to moderate showers today. Heavy rainfall is expected in many south peninsular states including Kerala, Odisha, Karnataka and more. 

Delhi and North India Weather

As per the weather forecast, light to moderate precipitation will be witnessed in Delhi-NCR with cloudy sky. A drop in temperature is also expected due to the continuous rain in the national capital. The temperature on 30 August will hover from 24 degrees celsius at a minimum to 34 degrees celsius at maximum. 

The weather forecast for upcoming days predicts heavy rains in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir, Gilgit, Baltistan, Haryana, Chandigarh and West Uttar Pradesh on 2 September. 

Orange Alert in Gujarat’s Districts 

Gujarat is still recovering from the floods and destruction caused by the heavy rains in the region. According to the IMD report, the state will continue to have moderate to heavy rainfall on 30 August with extremely heavy rain in Saurashtra and Kutch regions. 

IMD has issued an orange alert for Jamnagar, Porbandar, Saurashtra, Kutch and Dwarka today for moderate rain with thunderstorms. Additionally, a yellow alert is issued for Rajkot, Junagadh, and Morbi.

Heavy Rainfall in South Peninsular India 

IMD has warned of intensely heavy downpours in south Peninsular India with states including Kerala, Odisha, Mahe, Coastal Karnataka, Telangana, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Vidarbha. An orange alert for extremely heavy rainfall is issued for Kutch, Saurashtra, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and South Interior Karnataka. 

Extremely heavy rain is forecasted in Telangana, Yanam, and North Interior, South Interior and Coastal Karnataka.
