Weather Update: Heavy Rain and Landslides Cause Massive Destruction in Jammu & Kashmir

Weather Update:  Heavy rain is wreaking havoc in Jammu and Kashmir with landslides disrupting routes, causing widespread disruption, and tragic incidents across the state. 

2 young men died in a landslide near Shiv Gufa in the Mahore area on 22 July. They were asleep in a tent when the debris from the mountain fell on them.

In Katra, a landslide occurred two days ago in the Ban Ganga area, and efforts to clear the path are ongoing, with the pilgrims rerouted via alternate routes.

Due to the severity of the rain, schools along the riverbanks in Ramban, Rajouri, Poonch, Reasi, Udhampur, Samba, and Jammu were closed on July 23.
