Weather Update: The national capital witnessed a change in weather on Friday morning with heavy rain recorded in many areas, along with dust storm and thunderstorms wreaking havoc in Delhi-NCR. However, the sudden rainfall provided much-needed relief to the citizens from the scorching heat that made it difficult to step outside in daylight. Meanwhile, the rainfall also led to waterlogging and destruction in parts of Delhi, with power shortages in some areas.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for strong winds and rainfall with thunder in the coming days, with a possibility of a decrease in temperature. The IMD has also predicted strong thunderstorms with lightning in northern Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, southwest Rajasthan, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, south Gangetic West Bengal, and northern coastal Andhra Pradesh.
