Hyponatremia:  When you drink too much water quickly, the body’s electrolyte balance is diluted, especially sodium, causing water toxicity, also known as water intoxication or hyponatremia. A shocking incident involving a woman who passed away after consuming too much water has come to light. A 35-year-old woman drank 2 litres of water in only 20 minutes, which caused her death. Watch this video to learn why it's crucial to properly consume water.

What happens if we drink too much water?

In order to maintain fluid equilibrium, neuron function, and muscle contractions, sodium is a crucial electrolyte. Excessive water consumption, renal problems, certain drugs, or illnesses that disrupt hormone control can all lead to hyponatremia. When an excessive amount of water is consumed, the body's salt levels become dangerously diluted, resulting in water toxicity, also known as water intoxication or water poisoning. This may throw off the body's electrolyte balance and cause symptoms including nausea, vomiting, headaches, disorientation, and, in more extreme circumstances, seizures or coma. Maintaining the right electrolyte balance in the body is crucial because imbalances can affect cellular function and perhaps result in consequences that are life-threatening.
