The BCCI surprised everyone by sacking the Senior Selection Committee on Friday evening. After the defeat of Team India in the T-20 World Cup 2022, many questions were raised, meanwhile, the board has taken this action. Various questions were being raised on the Chetan Sharma-led Selection Committee, now that the entire committee has been removed, the question arises as to who will be the next Chief Selector.

Agit Agarkar in the race

According to media reports, Team India's former star bowler Ajit Agarkar is most visible in the race to become the new chief selector. Ajit Agarkar has applied for this post in the past as well, but last time also he was left behind in the race. But looking at the circumstances this time, their chances are being considered very high. According to the report of Inside Sport, a BCCI official has told that till now there has been no talk with Ajit Agarkar about this. But if he wants to apply for this post then it is completely his choice. He is young for this post, as well as he has experience in all three formats including IPL.

Current Position of Ajit Agarkar

Ajit Agarkar is currently working as an assistant coach with the Delhi Capitals team in the Indian Premier League. If he applies for the job of Chief Selector, then he will have to leave this IPL job. However, if we look at the rules of BCCI, Ajit Agarkar fits perfectly for this job.
